STRAWBERRY DAYS

Let the festivities begin......

Now for all you who know me and my family, you know that Strawberry Days is a BIG event for us!! I dare say that its up there with Christmas....no lie!! So bare with me and all my many pictures that you are about to view, I did try to cut it down a little....trust me I could have posted a lot more!!!
Again, if you know us Chipman's, you know that we have our many traditions with Strawberry Days. The first big event being the Block Party! My mom started this back in 1973 with some friends, after the 1st parade they started doing a lunch (that was back when they had 2 parades and it was held on Thursday....oh, the good old days) and as you can tell it has grown from there!!!

Next is Huck Finn Day which Mandy is in charge of every year. She does a great job!!! Each year it seems to get bigger and bigger. There are a lot of things to do, like fishing, donut walk, pony rides, face paint and so on. I forgot my camera so the pics that I do have came from Mandy's camera.


Another event Mandy is in charge of is the "Pie Eating Contest"
My niece Allyse just had gotten back from basketball camp in St. George that day and wasn't really in the mood to eat a pie, but we talked her into it. She only had about 2 or 3 bites but she still won....so what if she was the only girl in her age category!!!



Matt wasn't exactly thrilled about getting pie all over his face but he was a trooper and participated anyway.....good job Matt, to bad the other guy was a pie eating pro and apparently
does this for a living or something:) Maybe next year!!!


The City of Fun Carnival from Pleasant Grove..... it doesn't get any better then that!!!
It would not be Strawberry Days without at least walking through the carnival. But you know when you have kids, your not just going to "walk through" the carni, you gotta ride the rides.....right!!!
Mitch was in heaven, but every time a ride would stop he would freak out because he didn't want to get off then we would go to the next one and he'd be fine! Ashlynn was loving it too, except for the dragon roller coaster. She started out fine, then a couple of rounds into it her smile was gone and the tears were coming. After she got off she said "I didn't like that ride it made my tummy want to throw up," she recovered and we continued to the next ride!!

Way to go Mom and Dad!!! Like SO MANY people have said......you so deserve this awesome honor!! You guys have done so much, not only just for the community but for individuals who you have helped through out the years. We all know how much both of you have done to make Pleasant Grove a great place to live. We also know how much Pleasant Grove means to both of you and it shows!!!

Last but not least......Its Saturday Night, time for some Rodeo Action!

Being the Grand Marshals this year, my parents had to go to the the Rodeo every night to be honored. They didn't stay for the whole rodeo every night but Saturday is the night we normally go so we all were there the cheer them on. It was pretty neat to see them ride around the arena in the buggy and hear the announcer honor them!!!
The rodeo was great, Mitch loved the motor cross, he cheered right along with everybody else. Ashlynn liked it too, although she was pretty much busy the whole time going from one person to the next just visiting and probably driving everybody crazy. Oh well that's what she loves to do, talk and ask A LOT of questions.....we sure do love her though!!!!

T-Ball, Dance, Father's Day!!!

Okay, so its been a long while since I have updated. Life just seems to get more crazy each day, especially now that its summer!!! So here are a few things we have been up to lately........

T-BALL

Ashlynn started T-Ball the first of June. Now you just gotta love t-ball!!! I think its one of the most hilarious and most frustrating games to watch all at the same time, but it just wouldn't be summer if she didn't play!!!!

ASHLYNN'S DANCE RECITAL

Ashlynn had her end of the year dance recital on Saturday. She has been in

competitions since March but this was the finale!!! Its been so fun to see how much she has grown this last year with dance. Her cousin Sami Jo has been competing for a long time now and Ashlynn loves to watch her, so this year has been really fun for her to be able to go to competitions and dance just like Sami!!!

FATHER'S DAY

For Father's Day we had a barbecue at our house with my family. We had a lot of fun. My brother Quint got engaged last Friday so we were able to see the "diamond" it is beautiful!!! I am so excited for him. Jen is such an awesome girl.....congrats to you both!!! Anyway, back to father's day, I just have to say thanks to Greg for being a great dad!!! Ashlynn and Mitch love you so much!! They would much rather go with dad then mom. I'm just not as fun as dad. Also I just want to thank my own dad for being a great dad!!! Thank you for always being there for me and for your support, it mean so much!!!

Congratulations.....Class of 2008!

My little Ashlynn graduated from Preschool last Friday May 16th. We weren't sure if it was going to happen, it was touch and go there for awhile but she managed to pull it off!!! No really, I can't believe that she is all done with school for the year. This year zoomed by!! Wasn't it just Christmas? Thanksgiving? even Halloween??? You get what I mean!!! Anyway back to the graduation.....her school had a cute little program which included the kids singing songs and resighting poems that they had learned. Ashlynn was so funny.....she would hardly even look at us. We cheered for her and shouted her name but she was being a little shy. If she did look at us it was only for a quick second, then she would hurry and turn away with a serious face and her tongue pushing out her cheek. (if that makes any sense?)






After the program she was as happy as could be. Showing off for her friends and family. I was talking with her teacher (Ms Jodi) and she was telling me how she will miss her little helper! Now Ms Jodi had told me before that Ashlynn liked to help her out but never really went into detail. Well apparently Ashlynn was her little shadow! If Ms Jodi had to go to the office for something then Ashlynn had to go, were ever Ms Jodi went she had her little helper right there!!! Ms Jodi did tell me she had to draw the line when it came to going to the bathroom!! I really had no idea that Ashlynn did that. I know she is very observant and likes to ask a lot of questions and she has to know what is going on around her at all times but Oh My Gosh....what do I do with this child??!! I am grateful for Ms Jodi for being such a great teacher and being so good to Ashlynn!!! We will miss her! Well I guess its on to bigger and better things.....Kindergarten, I can't believe it!!

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day is such a great opportunity for me to say "thank you" to a great mom that has always done so much for me! So...thank you mom for everything you do. You have always been a great example to me. Thank you for always making sure us kids were always taken care of and had the best of everything! Most of all, thank you for showing me your love you have for our Savior.

I had a great Mother's Day! Greg and the kids made sure I had a really good day! They gave me some fun gifts and pretty flowers. Thank you Greg for making it a great day for me....I love you!!

Lets all run for Ryan!!

There is going to be a fun run honoring Ryan on Memorial Day, which is Mon. May 26th. All of the donations and proceeds will go to benefit Katie and the girls. You can either run the 5K or the 1 mile. The 5K is $15 and the 1 mile is $10. If your family wants to run it together the cost is $50 for a family of 4 under the ages of 18. The run is in American Fork it starts at the Rec. center at 8:00am. It is easiest to do a early registration at 26.2 running store (100N. 100E. AF) You can also do same day registration but it will cost $5 more. Same day registration ends at 7:30am. We want to get as many people to run as possible so please spread the word! Also if you want to or know anyone who would like to donate money, prizes or sponsor the event let us know. It would be greatly appreciated. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!!

I ran my first 5K just back in April. It was a lot of fun!!! I'm excited to run another one...especially for such a great cause! I hope that we can get a lot of support for Katie and her darling girls!!! See you on the 26th!!!

Happy Happy Birthday Children Dear.....

We had a party for both Ashlynn and Mitchell on Ashlynn's birthday.(April 15) So it was double the presents!! Of course Ashlynn was all excited and was enjoying all of the attention she was getting!!...not to mention the presents!! Now Mitchell on the other hand...he spotted some baseballs on top of a present and thats all he wanted!! If you know this kid...thats all he cares about. Well he got plenty of balls so he was more than pleased!! Uncle Shawn, aunt Aimee and his cousins Allyse, Brady and Caden got him a little miniature basketball hotshot, its the cutest thing...Mitchell loves it!! For their big present from Mom and Dad, we got Ashlynn an airplane teeter totter and Mitchell a trike!! These kids were very spoiled thanks to some loving...Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends!!! You just gotta love birthday parties!!!
